Small Business Hubs are being set up in the various areas of Anglo American’s operations. These walk-in centres provide local, aspiring entrepreneurs with tangible support including business planning, training, mentoring, basic business and accounting advice. The hubs also offer access to administrative facilities such as fax machines, printers, scanners, the Internet and meeting amenities.
These Business Hubs will be supported by the business units – Anglo Platinum, Anglo Coal and Kumba Iron Ore – in the respective areas. Through the assistance of the Small Business Start Up Fund, Anglo American business units are in the process of establishing 11 business hubs in the areas where these operations have a footprint.
At the same time, Anglo Zimele’s Small Business Start Up Fund will assist micro enterprises with seed and working capital, giving them assistance they might not receive from other financial institutions. |
